That Championship Season is a 1982 American sports drama film based on the 1972 play of the same name. It stars Robert Mitchum, Martin Sheen, Bruce Dern, Stacy Keach and Paul Sorvino, who had also appeared in the play and was the only cast member who appeared in the play.

That Championship Season is a 1972 play by Jason Miller. It was the recipient of the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1973 Tony Award for Best Play.

Tom Daley (Martin Sheen) arrives. He meets Sitkowski, his brother James, who is the campaign director (Stacy Keach), wealthy enterpreneur Phil Romano (Paul Sorvino) and retired coachman Delaney (Robert Mitchum). They won the 1954 Pennsylvania Estate basketball championship back at high school.
When the night comes to an end they decide to go back to the old glorious days and reunite into the team which won that championship season, back in 1957. It started as a friendly meeting between 4 old buddies with their basketball coach and ended up in revealing the truth about their relationship.
