In 1985 Davis moved to Vancouver BC to head The Vancouver Playhouse Acting School and from there went on to found and run The William Davis Centre for Actors' Study. The William Davis Centre operated at the famous corner of Hornby and Helmcken Street in Vancouver for fifteen years.

In 2008, the William Davis Centre for Actors Study joined with VanArts, becoming its acting department. In July 2010, VanArts moved again, this time to 570 Dunsmuir Street. In 2011, additional departments were made for Web Development & Interactive Design, Broadcasting, and Online Media.

William Bruce Davis (born January 13, 1938) is a Canadian actor, best known for his role as the Cigarette Smoking Man on The X-Files. Besides appearing in many TV programs and movies, he founded his own acting school, the William Davis Centre for Actors Study.
