1 de feb. de 2024 · Founded amid the political activism and artistic experimentation of the 1960s, the School of Cinema continues to celebrate cinematic expressions that challenge social and artistic norms. Our mission is to encourage students to engage in scholarship and to pursue all forms of cinema production.
The M.A. in Cinema’s learning objectives strives to enable students to: Acquire a broad knowledge of cinema theory, history, and criticism. Analyze the role of festivals, conferences, and other film and digital media exhibition venues and options.
The School of Cinema provides its undergraduate majors with a broad liberal arts education focused on three core values: creative expression, critical thinking, and social engagement. Students interested in the major are welcome to visit the School and meet with faculty and students.
School of Cinema facilities include a 150-seat screening theatre, a 2500 square foot shooting stage, editing and post-production areas for both sprocket and digital media, sound recording and mixing studios with digital editing workstations, including a Foley stage.
The School of Cinema is an academic unit in the College of Liberal & Creative Arts at San Francisco State University, a public research university in San Francisco. It has Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts, and Master of Fine Arts in cinema programs.
Identify contemporary technological, artistic, and industrial trends in the cinematic arts. Acquire the basic technical skills necessary for cinematic expression (animation, filmmaking, and screenwriting). Locate personal voice in the creation of the cinematic arts.
Overview. Degree Requirements. The M.F.A. in Cinema is intended for individuals who wish to pursue independent film and media production. A 60-unit terminal degree, the program offers students the opportunity to focus on any/all of the following areas: documentary, experimental and/or fiction.
