Details. The story of The Sammy Davis, Jr. Show is a somewhat bizarre and unlucky one. As the preeminent variety performer of his time, Sammy Davis, Jr. had long wanted to host his own television variety series.
The Sammy Davis Jr. Show is a 1966 studio album by Sammy Davis Jr., released to coincide with his television show of the same name. The album is collated from five studio sessions from 1961 to 1966. "We Open in Venice" had previously appeared on Reprise Musical Repertory Theatre (1963).
Track listing. Release notes. This album received an official reissue by Collector’s Choice in the US. It is also readily available for download and on streaming platforms. The Sammy Davis, Jr. Show premiered on NBC in 1966. Despite all appearances, this is not a ‘soundtrack’ album. It does contain several studio gems, though!
