10 de mar. de 1999 · Featuring covers of obscure and familiar songs from the 1950s alongside three new songs written in the same style, Run Devil Run saw Paul return to work with some familiar faces, most notably Back To The Egg producer Chris Thomas and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour.
Ian Paice from Deep purple sat at the drums some days, Dave Mattacks played on others. Keyboard duties were divided between Pete Wingfield and Geraint Watkins. As Paul had already told Chris Thomas, the point was for them to just play and have fun.

He explained to Rhythm Magazine how it came about: “Paul and David Gilmour were friends from the past,” he said.
Deep Purple’s drummer since he joined the band (age 19) in 1968. Armed with a dazzlingly fast technique, Ian has also worked with Paice, Ashton & Lord, Gary Moore and Whitesnake. A recent highlight was guesting on Sir Paul McCartney’s ‘Run Devil Run’ (1999) rock’n’roll album.
28 de dic. de 2017 · Paul went into mourning for a year and when he returned to his career, he recorded Run Devil Run, live in the studio with a stellar backing band (David Gilmour and Mick Green on guitar, keyboardists Pete Wingfield and Geraint Watkins, drummers Ian Paice and Dave Mattacks, Paulie mostly on bass -he overdubbed some guitar parts later on.
