Rob Thorne (Ngāti Tumutumu) is a leading performer and composer of taonga pūoro, the traditional musical instruments of his New Zealand Māori ancestry.
ROB THORNE. Rob is a founding member of the band and has been a primary songwriter from the very beginning in 1985. As lead singer and lead guitarist, he has been a vital part of the Sacred Oath sound throughout the band’s 30-year history. In 1998 he also began producing and has been responsible for every album since “A Crystal Revision”.

Rob Thorne (drums, percussion). Thorne was the original Spongetones drummer and was with the band for 33 years. He played his first professional gig at 12 years old (1956) with his father who was a trumpeter for the Les Brown Band of Renown.
