The band's friend/roadie Pete Garner stood in on bass, while Couzens was wanting to concentrate on guitar. The band members lost enthusiasm in 1981, Brown selling his bass guitar to buy a scooter, and Wolstencroft joined Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke's pre-Smiths band Freak Party.

6 de nov. de 2023 · Bassist Pete Garner, best known for being an original member of Stone Roses, has died aged 61 following a battle with cancer. Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown has paid tribute to his former band mate, saying the news is “very sad”. “Yeah, very sad. We were young punk rockers when we met in ‘77,” he said, responding to a Twitter comment.
