The host city was awarded the bid in February 2010, which made it the second city after Beijing to host an Olympic event in China. Nanjing 2014 pledged to “Share the Games, Share Our Dreams” for youth of different races, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today elected Nanjing, People's Republic of China, as the host city of the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014 during the 122nd IOC Session in Vancouver, Canada.
