Life Was Better is the second extended play release by Australian rock band Magic Dirt. It was released in November 1994 on the Melbourne independent label Au Go Go Records. The EP originally peaked at number 71 on the Australian singles chart, selling over 20,000 copies.

In April 1994, Magic Dirt split however, the group again reformed and released a second EP, Life Was Better in November. The EP included the tracks "Ice" and "Amoxycillin" and debuted at No. 1 on the Australian alternative music chart.
In Life Was Better, you can hear the roots of the sloppy masterpiece Friends In Danger, the riffy/stoner Young And Full Of The Devil, the poppy hooks of What Are Rock Stars Doing Today and Tough Love, and the noise freak-out of Roky's Room.
