James Patrick Clench (May 1, 1949 – November 3, 2010) [3] was a Canadian bassist, vocalist and songwriter known for his roles in the rock bands April Wine and Bachman–Turner Overdrive. [4] [5] [6] [7] With April Wine (first run) Clench was asked to join April Wine after their original bassist Jim Henman decided to leave the band in October 1971.

Following the tour, Jim Clench left, eventually to join Bachman–Turner Overdrive (in 1977); he was replaced by Steve Lang. The band's next release, in 1976, was The Whole World's Goin' Crazy. It was the first April Wine release to hit platinum status based on advanced sales orders alone.
17 de dic. de 2016 · Randy Bachman left Bachman-Turner Overdrive early in 1977, the last TV show he did with the band being on New Year’s Eve 76. The remaining trio brought in bass player/songwriter Jim Clench from April Wine and Fred Turner moved to guitar.
