Both McIntosh and McIntyre would later form The Average White Band. The studio recordings included pianist Ian McLagan and drummer Kenney Jones from the bands the Small Faces and Faces .
McLagan played piano on the studio side of the 1972 album The London Chuck Berry Sessions . After the Faces split up in 1975, McLagan worked as a sideman for the Rolling Stones, both in the studio ( Some Girls including electric piano on "Miss You"), on tour and on various Ronnie Wood projects, including the New Barbarians.
One-half of this album is a studio recording featuring Ian McLagan and Kenny Jones of the Faces. The other half is a live recording from the Lancaster Arts Festival in Coventry, England, featuring performances of "My Ding-a-Ling" and "Reelin' and Rockin'" that, in edited form, became the first hit singles for Chuck Berry in many years.
