Alternative rock. Instruments. Guitar. Joel Rundell (September 26, 1965 – August 8, 1990) was an American musician best known as one of the four original members and lead guitarist of the Louisiana -based alternative rock band Better Than Ezra.
Joel Rundell, the band's lead guitarist, died by suicide on August 8, 1990. The remaining three members of the band took some time off to reassess its future following Rundell's death. However, Griffin, Drummond and Bonnecaze reunited Better Than Ezra as a trio by the end of 1990.

Better Than Ezra was formed in 1988, while members Kevin Griffin, Tom Drummond Joel Rundell, and Cary Bonnecaze were all students of Louisiana State University. After building a fanbase playing at frat house and college bars throughout the area, the band released their debut cassette Surprise in late 1989.
18 de ago. de 2014 · Kevin had a high school friend, Joel Rundell, who also played guitar and was living in their hometown of Monroe at the time. He convinced him to move to Baton Rouge. So all that was left was a bass player. I put a wanted ad in the Reveille (the LSU campus newspaper) and Tom Drummond responded.
