Ace is an album by Grateful Dead singer and guitarist Bob Weir. His first solo album, it was released in 1972. Weir's bandmates in the Grateful Dead back him on the album, and all but one of the songs became staples of the band's live shows.
Philip Chapman Lesh (born March 15, 1940) [1] is an American musician and a founding member of the Grateful Dead, with whom he played bass guitar throughout their 30-year career.

Ace is officially classified as Bob Weir's first solo LP, and so it is not technically a Grateful Dead album. Although, the musicians involved were the current line-up of the Dead, plus a few guests, and almost all of the songs became standards in the Dead repertoire.
