In 1999, he played with Big Bill Morganfield on his debut album, Rising Son. In 2003, Oscher was featured on harmonica, guitar and vocals on Hubert Sumlin 's album, About Them Shoes , along with Keith Richards , Eric Clapton and Levon Helm .
Big Bill Morganfield's debut recording, Rising Son was recorded in the "windy city" and produced by Bob Margolin, Muddy Waters' long time guitarist. Other former members of the Muddy Waters Blues Band also joined Big Bill Morganfield in the studio: Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Paul Oscher, Pinetop Perkins, and Robert Stroger.
His first independent album,"Rising Son", was released in 1999 by Blind Pig Records. The album was recorded in Chicago, and featured Paul Oscher, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, and Pinetop Perkins. In 2000, he won the W.C. Handy Award for Best New Blues Artist. The title cut was featured in the 2004 film A Love Song for Bobby Long.
