Meadownoise is the name of Matt Glassmeyer’s project of songs from his home studio. The pseudonym was once a mask to help collaborators feel comfortable playing alongside him as a band, now it's just case of mistaken identity. Not a bad one, all things considered.
Meadownoise is the pseudonym of Matt Glassmeyer, though he'd rather you not know that. Since he started recording under that name, Glassmeyer--a veteran of many collectives--set his mind to writing, recording, and, at least initially, playing music as a wholly solo endeavor, though it was never an exercise in ego.
Matt is the inventor of the shuitar and the reedless saxophone (buzzaphone). He is the developer of the reed-amplified contra-alto clarinet, various percussion concepts, and the use of the Wurlitzer interior for percussion and new timbres.
A New York resident and maker of noise who mostly plays the tenor saxophone, he has performed with Bift, Twelve 20 Six, DDYGG, Federico Ughi, The Delphia Jazz Orchestra, George Rush, Greg Joseph, Jason Wildman, Sunny Jain Collective, Sean Moran Quartet and many others.

The shuitar [/shuh tahr' / or [/ shwee' tahr/] or [/ shoo' ih tahr/] or [/ shih' tahr/], is a dynamic percussion instrument with a wide variety of sounds and a highly portable alternative to the drum set. Matt Glassmeyer found a guitar on a rain-soaked junk pile in Miami in 1997.
