Joseph Tapley Dougherty (November 4, 1898 – April 19, 1978) was an American actor, who provided the original voice of the Warner Bros. animation character, Porky Pig, starting with the character's debut in I Haven't Got a Hat in 1935 through Porky's Romance in 1937.

Joe Dougherty (1898-1978) was an actor who appeared in TV shows and movies, and also voiced Porky Pig in the early Looney Tunes cartoons. He was born in Missouri, married to Louise Frye, and died in Los Angeles.
Porky shared his stutter with the voice actor who originally played him, Joe Dougherty, who was actually a person who stuttered. Because Dougherty could not control his stutter, however, production costs became too high as his recording sessions took hours, and Porky's additional lines were done by Count Cutelli . [1]
