Midway through the Hard Candy tour, drummer Ben Mize (born February 2, 1971, Durham, North Carolina) amicably left the band to spend more time with his family and pursue his own musical interests. The album featured founding Counting Crows members Adam Duritz, David Bryson (guitar), Charlie Gillingham (keyboards), Matt Malley (bass), as well as new additions Ben Mize (drums) and Dan Vickrey (guitars). Multi-instrumentalist David Immerglück played on the album as a session musician as well.
Benjamin Mize drummed in San Fransisco-based Counting Crows between 1994-2003. Previously Ben Mize drummed in Cracker. Mize joined the Crows in 1994 when fouding member and original drummer Steve Bowman decided to depart to join Third Eye Blind.
