Deutsche Schule Lissabon (Portuguese: Escola Alemã de Lisboa, EAL; German School of Lisbon) is a private German international school situated in the Lumiar district of Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 1848, the Deutsche Schule Lissabon is the oldest German school in the Iberian Peninsula.
The German Abitur, commonly referred to as “Abi,” is a qualification earned upon successfully finishing secondary education in Germany, usually in grades 12 and 13. In the gymnasiale Oberstufe, the final two years of upper secondary school, students undergo the qualification phase.
The Deutsche Schule Lissabon (DSL) is the second oldest German school abroad worldwide. In 1848 it was founded on the initiative of the pastor of the German Protestant community in Lisbon. Our goal is that school is not just a place of learning, but that students experience it as a positive and inspiring space.
