Benet Alan Hytner KC (29 December 1927 – 7 February 2023) was an English barrister and judge. He was Judge of Appeal of the Isle of Man. He was the Head of the Byrom Street Chambers in Manchester and 42 Bedford Row in London. He practiced principally in General Common Law.

Although it is a great privilege to have been asked to speak about Ben Hytner’s legal career, it is more than a little daunting. He practised at the Bar for nearly 60 years and spent over. 40 years as a working silk appearing in every type of case at every level of court.
Shortly afterwards, the GMPA established its own local inquiry into the Moss Side riots, led by Benet Hytner QC. James Anderton refused to co-operate with the Hytner inquiry and refused to allow his officers to testify.
