Mecanoid. A complete orchestra shaped into one rectangular machine. The machine has six percussive, melodic and harmonic functions. Between the visitors and the machine, a light source is projecting the shadow of the mechanisms on the wall, in a big scale, filling the room entirely with the changing sounds and moving image of the kinetic sculpture.

From the outset Mecanoid is a lush piece of work that combines repetitive and overtly mechanical sounds (such as whirrs, clicks, taps, drones, etc.) with the beautiful melodies performed by Bastien himself on different instruments (the most memorable being a lugubrious muted trumpet).
