Mike and the Mechanics (stylised as Mike + The Mechanics) are an English rock supergroup formed in Dover in 1985 by Mike Rutherford, initially as a side project during a hiatus period for his other group Genesis.
Mike + The Mechanics es una banda británica de pop rock formada en 1985 por Mike Rutherford, integrante de la banda Genesis; en este nuevo proyecto asume como guitarrista, bajista y baterista. El grupo logró éxito con canciones como "Silent Running", "All I Need Is a Miracle", "Over My Shoulder" y "The Living Years".
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010. In addition to his work with Genesis, Rutherford released two solo albums in the early 1980s. In 1985, he formed Mike + the Mechanics, which became a chart-topping act and significant live draw in its own right.
