Math and Physics Club began as a basement project for childhood friends Charles Bert (vocals) and James Werle (guitar) in the late 1990’s. By the summer of 2004, the band coalesced around the additions of Kevin Emerson (drums), Saundrah Humphrey (viola) and Ethan Jones (bass).
By mid-2004, the band's lineup featured Kevin Emerson on drums, Saundrah Humphrey on violin, and Ethan Jones on bass. The band's initial demo attracted the attention of both Jimmy Tassos of Matinee Recordings and the influential KEXP DJ John Richards.

26 de ene. de 2018 · Working from a makeshift studio in the wilds of Snohomish, Washington, with fabled grunge producer Chris Hanzsek (Soundgarden, Green River), the band recorded eleven songs over four days in the company of Douglas firs and Swainson’s Thrushes.
