Biography. Elijah Christopher "EJayy" DeVaughn, Jr. is a member of the Harvard College Class of 2021, pursuing a concentration in History and Literature with a secondary in African American Studies and a citation in Spanish. For the first thirteen years of his life, Elijah's father was incarcerated.
Elijah Christopher DeVaughn, Jr. is a Compton, California native whose faith drives his commitment serve. Raised by an educator, Elijah understood from an early age the value of public service and its ability to change lives. Elijah is Founder and CEO of EJayyTalks, a lecture series he conducts in Compton to inspire youth.
Elijah Christopher “EJayy” DeVaughn, Jr. is a scholar, storyteller, and public servant. For the first thirteen years of his life, Elijah’s father was incarcerated. In those years, he was raised by his single mother and grandmother in the city of Compton, California.

On a call from California, the history and literature concentrator who graduated in spring remembered Faust as “incredibly warm,” and said her class taught him how rhetoric has shaped American history, and possibility.

He will join six other Harvard College students who will join the new class that will continue their studies at Oxford beginning in the fall of 2021. Elijah Christopher DeVaughn, Jr (a.k.a. EJayy) hails from Compton, California. DeVaughn was inspired to pursue public service after reading Frederick Douglass's slave narrative, in which he writes, "I see what ought to be by the reflection of what is and endeavor to remove the contradiction."
