In 1971 they amalgamated with Collegiate Girls School whose pupils and staff moved to Blackpool Old Road to create Blackpool Collegiate Grammar School.

When Blackpool Grammar School for Boys was originally sited on Raikes Parade during the 1920's, a room was built as a memorial to former students who were killed during, or as a result of, World War 1. When the Grammar School moved to the new building here on Blackpool Old Road in 1962, they brought the Memorial Room with them.
