Gershwin: Piano Concerto in F is an album by Marcus Roberts, his trio and the Saito Kinen Orchestra under the direction of Seiji Ozawa, recorded live at the Saito Kinen Festival in 2005. It features Roberts' arrangement of Gershwin's concerto.
Gershwin's Concerto in F was meant for piano and orchestra, but the Marcus Roberts Trio puts an amazing twist on the classic piece, adding bass and drums to the solos along with jazzy improvisation that will knock your socks off.
Concerto in F is a composition by George Gershwin for solo piano and orchestra which is closer in form to a traditional concerto than his earlier jazz-influenced Rhapsody in Blue. It was written in 1925 on a commission from the conductor and director Walter Damrosch. It is just over half an hour long.
