Steven A. Ansell (born February 5, 1954) is an American violist whose career involves work as a chamber musician, solo artist, and orchestral musician. He is the principal violist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since September 1996.

1 de mar. de 2018 · From slinging riffs in punk rock bands, Ansell discovered his true calling for battering the skins when he formed Blood Red Shoes with Laura-Mary Carter. The raucous duo just released their fifth album, Get Tragic, on their own Jazz Life label. Note: they don’t play jazz.
Dr. Ansell is a hematologist and oncologist who studies the biology and treatment of B cell cancers. He is also a professor of medicine, a deputy director of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a recipient of several awards and honors.
