John Kenneth Wetton (12 June 1949 – 31 January 2017) was an English musician, singer and songwriter. Although he was left handed he was known as a dexterous right handed bass player and had a booming baritone voice Wetton joined the band Family in 1971 for a short time before joining King Crimson in 1972.

John Wetton was, in my humble opinion, one of the best vocalists and one of the best bass players of the progressive rock music. He had a style of bass playing very own and very powerful, which makes of it very distinct and unique. 'Battle Lines' is the third solo studio album of Wetton and was released in 1994.

The album showcases excellent choices from their catalog, as well as three (!) “new” bass players— John Wetton, Sal Maida and Rick Wills—none of whom presumably exploded on stage. It kicks off with Out of the Blue, one of my favorites from my favorite Roxy Music album, Country Life.
