In 1992, Sweet played bass on the album To Hell With Love by Suzanne Rhatigan, which was produced by Sweet's Girlfriend producer Fred Maher and also featured Sweet's guitarist Robert Quine. In 1994, Sweet co-produced the Velvet Crush album, Teenage Symphonies to God .

15 de sept. de 2021 · there are moments for both when you could think “meh, that one isn’t for me” or “wish they had switched vocal parts,” but the three covers albums really made me appreciate her much more as a vocalist—and have since picked up most of the bangles stuff—including “sweetheart of the sun,” produced by sweet/bangles.
No hate to Matthew Sweet himself, but the star of this song and album is always Robert Quine to me. Whether it's in this, with Richard Hell & the Voidoids, Lou Reed, Material, Zorn, and so, so much more - Quine's playing stands out to me and was a massive influence.
In 2002, Sweet contributed his song "Girlfriend" for the film Crossroads, He also contributed the song "Daddy Wasn't There" (with Mike Myers) for the film Austin Powers in Goldmember, as well as appearing in the film itself.
My love of 90s-era Matthew Sweet has flared up recently and boy, has it been an utter delight. As with 98% of all my musical loves, I happened into Matthew Sweet in a haphazard, backwards way. I didn’t fall in love with the “Girlfriend” video like so many people I know.
