The Celestial Septet is an album by The Nels Cline Singers and Rova Saxophone Quartet which was released in March 2010 on the New World label.
The Celestial Septet, comprising the Nels Cline Singers and Rova Saxophone Quartet, is a vehicle for time and space travel through dense, narrow thickets and airy, wide expanses of boundary-blurred extrapolations of jazz, rock, late-20th-century European modernism and American minimalism, and 21st-century postmodern fusions.
Rova meets up with the Nels Cline Singers, sneaks into a phone booth, and becomes The Celestial Septet. With the great Singers' rhythm section of Trevor Dunn and Scott Amendola pushing everyone majestically, the band performed three concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area in May 2008.
