Hace 5 días · I am currently doing a little research and am trying to trace the route of Flying Scotsman across the US on its first part of its tour in 1969. Can anyone tell me the route taken and the Cities and States visited.

30 de may. de 2024 · The Flying Scotsman passed through North Herts and South Cambs. This iconic steam engine was originally built as Pacific Class 1 no 4472 in 1923 from the stable of the equally famous Nigel Gresley. The locomotive was deployed on the important London to Edinburgh line and made the non stop 392 mile journey in May of 1928.
Hace 2 días · The Flying Scotsman was rebuilt with a higher pressure boiler and converted to left hand drive in 1947, becoming part of the A3 class. In the late 1950's it was again rebuilt with a double chimney and German style smoke deflectors, and in this condition it was withdrawn in 1963.
