9 de may. de 2024 · Ruth Asawa, American artist known for her abstract wire sculptures, many of which were displayed suspended as mobiles. She adapted the basket-weaving techniques that she observed on a trip to Mexico in 1947. Asawa later turned to large public projects and community activism.
14 de may. de 2024 · Beyond the studio, Asawa was a staunch arts advocate. She joined the San Francisco Arts Commission in 1968, then went on to help establish the first public arts high school in San Francisco in 1982, renamed the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts in 2010.
