Their marriage may have taken place secretly in 1429, or they may already have been married when, in 1428, an act of Parliament was passed forbidding her marriage without the consent of king and council.
Owen Tudor, leading the Welsh rearguard, advanced slowly, hoping to engage the Yorkists' left by an outflanking manoeuvre. The battle lasted all morning and into the afternoon. A Lancastrian flanking ploy failed and the troops retreated south toward Kingsland.
