On April 29, 2024, Oakville Town Council unanimously approved the Town of Oakville Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Multi-Year Plan, which outlines town actions over the next five years to be a more inclusive Oakville.

30 de abr. de 2024 · Tensions flared last night, April 29, during Oakville's town council monthly meeting as delegates and attendees clashed over differing perspectives on a proposed multi-year Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) plan. The plan's goal is to govern how the town hires, trains and manages employees.
Hace 6 días · The Town of Oakville was founded on the treaty lands and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Ward 7 sits on Treaty 14 land which covers the majority of Oakville and beyond. This land was ceded to the crown in 1806 as part of the Head of the Lake Purchase which included land from Mississauga to Burlington.
