The character is portrayed as a female diving bird instead of a male seagull as in the original to feature the character in underwater scenes.

In 2023 Awkwafina voiced the animated sea bird Scuttle in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
Hace 4 días · And Awkwafina...she's hysterical as Scuttle. I was apprehensive at first, cause I love the voice and cadence of Buddy Hackett, but Awkwafina adds her own twist to this. And "Scuttlebutt" - that's the song alright! The queen is lovely! Very new and different addition to this tale.
