Initially, the reigning monarch(s) would attend the show but in more recent years, the senior members attending have alternated, with Queen Elizabeth II attending less and less frequently as her reign progressed.

The show featured singing, dancing, drag acts, music hall at its peak. In the year 2012, "The Royal Variety Performance" celebrated its centennary.
17 de may. de 2024 · The band performed the hit track live during the official Children In Need fundraiser in November 2012. 2012: Girls Aloud meet The Queen Returning to The Royal Variety Performance in December 2012 to perform their hit single 'The Promise', Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola, Sarah and Kimberley were introduced to Her Majesty The Queen backstage.
