17 de may. de 2024 · The golden calf was an idol worshipped by the Hebrews during the Exodus and the reign of Jeroboam I. It was a symbol of apostasy and rejection of God's covenant, and Moses broke the tablets of the Law when he saw it.
The legend of the Talmud is that while Moses was on the mount, and this does need verification but there may be none, 72-78 men at the bottom of the mount came together to codify the law. This behavior was the "Golden Calf '', which has not been explained well between the people.

We find the golden calf on two important occasions in Israel’s history: Aaron, Moses’ brother, forced by the people, sets up one in the wilderness after the exodus (Ex. 32:1-7), and Jeroboam sets up two: one in Bethel and another in Dan on the occasion of the division of the kingdom (1 Kings 12:28-29).
