It is of irregular shape, about 1½ miles from north to south, about 2 miles from east to west at the north, 1½ miles at the south, and under 1 mile at the middle. Its western boundary is formed by the Hampshire county boundary.

The race will start and finish near All Saints' Church, Compton. It is easily accessible by public transport with car parking available at South Winchester Park & Ride (M3, J11).
