Shock of the Hour is the debut album by rapper MC Ren, released November 16, 1993, on Ruthless Records and distributed by Relativity Records. After the success of his debut EP Kizz My Black Azz, a follow-up album was promised for an early 1993 release.
His aggressive, no-nonsense lyrical style earned him the nickname "The Villain in Black" and secured his status as one of the most influential rappers of all time. Not one to rest on his laurels, MC Ren went on to have a successful solo career with albums like Kizz My Black Azz and "Shock of the Hour."
