Our annual fundraiser, the Jane Austen Parade for Literacy, is Sunday 23rd June at 1pm, and retraces Jane’s steps from her cottage in the middle of the village to Chawton House, owned by her brother, Edward Austen Knight. As patron of the Deane living, he rebuilt the Deane church in 1818-1820 (as recorded in the top section of the memorial), at his own expense. The church could seat 146 people in 1851.

  7. Hace 5 días · Answer: Edward Austen Knight Edward was formally adopted by the childless Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Knight II in 1783. He changed his name to Knight many years later after Mr. Knight was deceased as part of the agreement in order to inherit the Knight properties.
