Patients with cancer, especially those undergoing surgery, are at higher risk for delirium and its adverse effects.

The mean age of patients with and without delirium was 72.92±SD vs 68.24±SD years, respectively (p = 0.004). Patients with delirium were found to have higher odds of in-patient mortality (OR = 3.89, 95% CI: 2.78- 5.44, p < 0.001).
