At the dawn of the twenty-first century, the global financial crisis, Brexit from the EU, Trump’s election as the US president, the Covid-19 pandemic, the Russia–Ukraine conflict and other “black swan” or “grey rhino” events, all have relentlessly delivered heavy blows to globalisation.
