9 de sept. de 2024 · “Layla” was a song Clapton wrote, with Dominos drummer Jim Gordon, about his forbidden love for the wife of his close friend George Harrison (she eventually became Clapton’s wife). The song was inspired by Clapton’s reading of the classic Persian unrequited love story, the epic poem Layla and Manjun .
6 de sept. de 2024 · On his tour of the Far and Middle East back in 2014, however (documented by the ‘Planes, Trains and Eric’ DVD), Clapton performed a very different version of ‘Layla’, removing that iconic guitar riff and instead giving the track a more relaxed, intimate feel.
