The components on the Roscoe 6 are a lower grade than the components on the Marlin 8, based on spec level the Marlin is a better bike, but the Roscoe can be upgraded to higher spec components, for example the Marlin frame doesn't accept forks with tapered steerers or boost axles which all the higher spec mountain bike parts have.
From looking online it seems like I want to go with Roscoe over Marlin as it's more of an actual mtb, but not sure if the pros of the roscoe 7 outweight paying more vs the 6. Most other reviews online seem to be a few years outdated from when the 6 had outdated geometry making it not worth at the time.
