Hace 4 días · Ulmer first came to prominence in the 1970s when he partnered with legendary free-jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman, who stimulated him to play free guitar improvisations. As a result, James 'Blood' Ulmer became an initiator of 'free funk', a groovy style that rebelled against the new order of neo-bop.

At Big Ears, Ulmer and his wah-wah pedal screamed the blues with a scorching trio that included bassist Mark Peterson and drummer G. Calvin Weston.
