15 de may. de 2024 · The band was started in the mid-1960s by former folk musicians; in late 1966, however, edgy-voiced ex-model Grace Slick and the harder, rumbling rhythms pouring from bassist Jack Casady and drummer Spencer Dryden transformed Jefferson Airplane into a dance band with a social conscience.

The song’s title refers to the length of the run-up area for the 100-meter dash in Olympic track and field events. It’s a metaphor for the fast-paced and counterculture lifestyle of San Francisco during the 1960s.
