  1. 22 de may. de 2024 · Entering my collection for The Uncollected Series HSR-101 thru HSR-241 and a question of plating came up: looking at HSR-153 the runout has "SG" (mastered by Steve Guy at Location Recording Service as stated on the back cover) and "+ KM +" (pressed by KM Records Inc.).

  2. The hiss-crackling runout groove noise in the samples you shared is simply because of a bad pressing. I'm guessing the vinyl wasn't given enough time to cool down correctly in the press -- after listening to thousands of records old and new this tends to occur in select newer records, especially poorly-pressed ones.

  4. 17 de may. de 2024 · I was listening to a French-pressed RCA-Victor LP from the late 70s this morning, and the end of the runout was absolutely quiet... So is there any special manufacturing care put into this, or is it just "mechanical happenstance"?

  5. 18 de may. de 2024 · Close inspection showed that the etched matrix number crossed the runout groove: My understanding from here on the forum is that this lacquer should have been considered spoiled and discarded. Has anybody seen a legitimate record with the runout etching intruding on the runout groove?
