The following is what I did which greatly reduced gear noise. It is cut and pasted from my restoration thread.

The factory would have use remove the Idler gear to a new location below and slightly to the left (direction of red arrow), and install a reversing gear next to it whenever we want to reverse.   7. 21 de may. de 2024 · Also the reversing gears can wear quickly which is also problematic for the power reserve. Ahhh, this is excellent. I think we will move to MR4 over the HP1000 on the axle as well.
