18 de may. de 2024 · When in FWD or REV it sounded like a thrashing machine! I figured the problem was wear in the reversing gear assembly which in turn vibrated noise to the change gears. The following is what I did which greatly reduced gear noise. It is cut and pasted from my restoration thread.
Hace 4 días · 230.157 Reverse gear. Reverse gear, reverse levers, and quadrants shall be maintained in a safe and suitable condition for service. Reverse lever Latch shall be so arranged that it can be easily disengaged, and provided with a spring which will keep it firmly seated in quadrant.
14 de may. de 2024 · Adjusting the forward mode on a used bought-off-the-internet A-4 with reverse gear, does not give the result I am looking for. Turning the cogged adjustment wheel clockwise the wheel stops, backing off to the last accessible slot in the wheel and securing it, there is complete slippage.

The factory would have use remove the Idler gear to a new location below and slightly to the left (direction of red arrow), and install a reversing gear next to it whenever we want to reverse. It makes it possible to reverse, but it sure ain’t easy!

21 de may. de 2024 · Also the reversing gears can wear quickly which is also problematic for the power reserve. Ahhh, this is excellent. I think we will move to MR4 over the HP1000 on the axle as well.
