For the most part, the ocean is blue because pure water is actually blue. Still, there are other reasons why water often appears blue, including the way water molecules absorb and scatter sunlight.

It extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean (or, depending on definition, to Antarctica) in the south, and is bounded by the continents of Asia and Australia in the west and the Americas in the east.

11 de may. de 2024 · The Pacific Ocean appears blue because water absorbs colors in the red part of the light spectrum, leaving behind colors in the blue part of the light spectrum for us to see. The ocean may also take on green, red, or other hues as light bounces off of floating sediments and particles in the water.
