While on tour in 1999, original drummer Darrell Sweet died at age 51 of a heart attack. He was then replaced by bassist Pete Agnew's son Lee. On 4 August 2006, John Locke, the former keyboardist of the band, died from cancer at the age of 62. In February 2008, The Newz was released on the Hamburg-based label, Edel Entertainment.

25 de jun. de 2023 · Nazareth bassist Pete Agnew – these days the only living member of Nazareth – is sitting in the Pitfirrane Hotel in Fife telling us the story of his extraordinary band. It is 2004, and sitting opposite him is singer Dan McCafferty. The two men met on their very first day at school, aged five.

23 de jun. de 2021 · Nazareth’s career path has hardly been a completely smooth one. Following the death of Darryl Sweet in 1999, Lee Agnew, Pete’s son, became their drummer. And in 2013 the band announced Dan McCafferty's retirement from the band due to ill health.
