Hace 17 horas · The Missa Mater Patris, based on a three-voice motet by Antoine Brumel, is probably the earliest true parody mass by any composer, as it no longer contains any hint of a cantus firmus. Missa D'ung aultre amer is based on a popular chanson of the same name by Ockeghem, and is one of Josquin's shortest masses.

Among them is the eponymous Mille Regretz, a favourite of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, in which King David laments murdering his son. Also featured is Allégez-Moi, where Josquin’s unique compositional style meets an explicitly sexual text.
